Aquaculture at sea and the decommissioning of wind farms are associated with many opportunities and challenges. The Belgian federal government has therefore taken the initiative to develop an integrated vision for both sectors, with specific attention to the protection of the marine environment and marine biodiversity.

Tine Miet Van Maele, who graduated as a Master in Biology at Ghent University, was recruited at the Institute of Natural Sciences to help shape this process.
