Wannes De Clercq (BSc in Biology, Ghent University; International Master of Science in Marine Biological Resources, IMBRSea) is a marine biologist passionate about marine conservation and experienced in the effects of mariculture on benthic communities. Within the Institute of Natural Sciences, he works on the ‘RBINS-EMBRC’ project.

Therefore, he manages the ‘Artificial Hard Substrate Gardens’ (AHSG) and provides them as a service at both the Belgian and European EMBRC level. For this, a central service centre is being set up to centralize, maintain, innovate, operate and advertise the different components of the AHSG.
