Kelle Moreau

Kelle Moreau is a marine biologist (M.Sc. KULeuven 2000) that currently focuses on mapping anthropogenic underwater noise in the Belgian part of the North Sea, evaluating its impact on the marine ecosystem and streamlining the monitoring programme in the regional context of OSPAR and EU MSFD working groups.

Kelle has extensive experience in fisheries research and advising governmental and sectoral partners on the sustainable management of marine species. In this respect, he represents Belgium in the Scientific Committee of the International Whaling Commission and is responsible for the fish-section of the Belgian Scientific CITES Committee, among others. He is also part of the Belgian marine mammal stranding network.

Apart from his scientific and advisory activities, Kelle is also an experienced science communicator, coordinating the communication on marine topics within Mareco and other marine teams of the Institute of Natural Sciences.
