Aquaculture at sea and the decommissioning of wind farms are associated with many opportunities and challenges. In the Belgian part of the North Sea, a lot of activities are already ongoing in those areas. The federal government would like to align and consolidate these initiatives in an integrated vision. Thereby specific attention will be paid to blue growth within a framework of protecting and restoring the marine environment and biodiversity. MARECO and the Marine Environment Service of the Federal Public Service of Public Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment will guide this process transparently developed through a stakeholder process. With this information, policymakers can then further proceed.
